Driving Permit For Switzerland / France ?? |
Travel Info Going to Geneva then onto France tomorrow does anyone have any info on a highway tax or something similar you need to pay to drive on the roads in either country ? I believe its a charge that covers you for a year. Travel Tips It is called a Eurovignette. Within France you are charged for using the motorways depending on the mileage you have clocked up. In Switzerland you have to buy a permit, you can buy the for 1 day, week, month, year, depending on how long you are going to be in the country. I think you only need an International Driving Licence if you are going to Turkey and Far East however it is reccommened to get an International Driving Permit which you can obtain from the Post Office. Others no one can actually answer that on if you have not just left Gen/Fran France I know their was none but things change when you are renting the car you will be told by the agent if he or does not remember to tell ask Drive Carefully My husband who is French just told me that if you are an American you drive with your license for 3months but now thing have change American are only allowed to stay in France for only a month at the time without a Visa so you probably can drive for that month without having to pay anything Quote : I believe its a charge that covers you for a year. That's just the case in Switzerland. You pay for one year. It's 27 鈧?in 2006. In France, you pay at the toolbooth an amount proportional to the distance that you drive. (37鈧?from Paris to Geneva, 28 鈧?from Paris to Lion..) |
