Travel Info Why is Mount Florida, Glasgow, Scotland called this? Is it related to the state of Florida, US? Travel Tips Originally named Mount Floridon, Mount Florida is an area in the southeastern corner of the Scottish city of Glasgow. Scotland's National Stadium Hampden Park is located there. Mount Florida is served by the Cathcart Circle train line and is home to Langside College. Primarily a residential area, Mount Florida homes many of the early 1900's style tenament housing in the area. In addition is also has several of Glasgow's high rise structures which dominated much of the 1960's housing 'regeneration'in the city. The main road through 'the Mount' is Cathcart road, named after the major suburb located to the South which also gives it name to the two rivers 'Black Cart' and 'White Cart' which flow to the South of Mount Florida.
