Which city in Scotland is better to live in Glasgow or Edinburgh? |
Travel Info Which city in Scotland is better to live in Glasgow or Edinburgh? Travel Tips Hello Marisam- good question... let me see.... Oooh.. for me...absolutley definitley Glasgow! However.. it depends on what you're looking for. I think of Edinburgh as Scotlands answer to Disneyland, with Castles, and Palaces, pretty buildings, tartan shops and 10 tourists for every resident. Its always way overpriced, the traffic is horrendous- as it also is in Glasgow it has to be said- The shoppings isn't that great either but it does have some good if perhaps pricey hotels, restuarants and clubs. The Universities are good (but the Uni's in Glasgow are good too!) In terms of snob-value, Edinburgh has it all! Glasgow on the other hand is more "real" it's got everything you could want in a city with great transport links, easy access to the West of Scotland with it's beautiful scenery, fabulous shopping, great friendly people who are down to earth and will actually pass the time of day with a stranger, it's not nearly as expensive as Edinburgh in terms of housing, eating and drinking, but it's so much more diverse than Edinburgh and it feels more exciting somehow. Glasgow is "rough and ready" or chic and sleek- whatever you're looking for, in my opinion, it beats Edinburgh hands down.. Mind you, I'm sure you will also have other considerations perhaps like a job, family as well as your own preferences, likes and dislikes. Wherever you decide to go I hope it goes well for you. Good Luck! Others It depends on what you prefer... Edinburgh if you're looking for a "historical" city or Glasgow if you tend to prefer contemporary stuff. Agree, it depends on what you prefer - If you like dull-as-dishwater, can't move for tourists, vastly over-expensive, soul-less and unfriendly, then go for Edinburgh. If you like vibrant, exciting, friendly and modern, then go for Glasgow. OBAN, Queen of the Highlands, belch!, sorry .can I have another dram lassie? Ta. what was the ? oh aye, I prefer Edinburgh . Edinburgh it depends. there are more english in edinburgh than england so if thats your thing then go for it. but glasgow is a passionate city and very friendly. |
