Is glasgow worse than Manchester for violent crime? |
Travel Info I heard that there have been several knife attacks and serious assaults in Glasgow in recent years, I wonder if Glasgow as a city is more violent than Manchester? Travel Tips I have lived in Manchester a few years ago and now live in Glasgow. I have always felt safer in Glasgow, even when I din't know it as well as I do now. I agree with the other answers that violent crime tends to be related to gang activity etc, although of course there are dodgier areas that you are sensible to avoid at night. If you were choosing between the two to live, I'd consider whether you like the people and surroundings, rather than crime because that will happen in big cities wherever. Others Most of the murders and knife attacks within glasgow are gang / drug related. if you are not involved with the underworld you will be ok (trust me 47 years old and never assulted) As with any large city there is crime........however Glasgow also is blessed with the friendliest populace you will ever meet.......I am sure if you don't go looking for trouble you won't find it..........Also keep in mind that a lot of "news reports" that you read or listen to may have an agenda political or economic.....as an example a recent documentary made the ridiculous claim that Glasgow is as violent as Baghdad.......when you investigate this claim you find that the "expose" is by a Canadian news organization and Glasgow is in competition with Halifax, Nova Scotia for a certain world event.......Hmm...bias methinks... |
