Should I move to Glasgow? |
Travel Info Should I move to Glasgow? Travel Tips Depends, if you have a job here, maybe. If you have kids, hell no. I live in glasgow and have seen the city decline badly over the last 10 years. Sure theres redevelopment and the city is thriving economically etc... But you really dont want to raise kids here, the gang culture is out of control and if your kids dont end up in a gang they'll be the victim of them. its not a great place for a young person at the moment. over 2 thirds of the violent crime and murders in strathclyde took place in the city of glasgow, and the city still ranks near the top of the most violent cities in europe. And the large majority of knife attack victims are under 20 and commited by the same age group. Scotlands jails and youth detention facilities are packed to bursting and as such kids who commit serious criminal offences are given simple curfews which they can break and face no retribution other than an overnight stay in a jail cell, which is more of a badge of honour to them than a deterent. A better bet would to move to one of the nearby towns and commute. Others Yes you should. Everybody should. Glasgow loves people - that is what the city is about. Some say it is a bit noisy, but it is just bursting with life. Stay out late, talk to people, join in the banter. Glasgow's Miles Better !!! Gowfergold http://www.clans.org.uk more information would be helpful! That said I've decided to. Me and my family are moving over at the end of May. Glasgow is a great city, lots of arts based things to do, great music scene, fantastic people, good restaurants, and a cost of living significantly cheaper than Dublin! Yes! Glasgow is a great city to live in. I know it gets a bad press, but it's really not as bad as a lot of people make out - you get good and bad everywhere. I would rather live here than some other cities, which have nothing to offer. Glasgow is great! depends where your moving from but i wouldn't recommend it - racial hatred is bad, unemployment high, housing shortage very bad. Not unless you have a good reason such as a job or promotion. I moved there once. Regreted it. I should have gone to Edinburgh. p.s. Just compare the news for west central and east central Scotland on the STV web site. Edinburgh leads with the elections; Glasgow with two murders. 'Nuff said! |
