Glasgow/Edinburgh to Murryfield?

Travel Info
Asked under Edinburgh and now trying Glasgow (don't want to upset anyone...)

My problem is - I have tickets to the rugby world cup game between Scotland and N.Z on the 23/9. Obviously the airlines have not added on flights (why would they...) so I am left with 2 options as I need to fly back to London that evening.
1] From Edinburgh airport @ 20.20
2] From Glasgow airport @ 21.25 (much cheaper)

The match kicks off @ 16.00 so it should be over at about 18.00-18.10.

My question is - taking into account that it is a Sunday, but that there will be 67000 rugby fans with me, how long (and how) will it take me to get toEdinburghor Glasgow and which is the better option? I really hope that someone can help - thanks.

Travel Tips
Lets take Glasgow first - if only because you are trying your luck there. The quickest way between Edinburgh and Glasgow is rail and if you got the 1904 train from Edinburgh Haymarket, you should be in Glasgow at 1951. Get a taxi from the station rank and you should be at Glasgow Airport by 2025. Now, although Haymarket is a mile from Murrayfield, there is no guarantee that you would actually get there in time, and, if you did, whether you would even get to platform 4 for the train!

Edinburgh is slightly easier. There is an express service 100 and a stopping service 35, but you might be better starting to hoof it along Corstophine Road and hail the first taxi you see. It ought to be a 20 minute ride, but on an International afternoon, well, ......

If I was forced to choose, I would have to plump for Edinburgh Airport (and pray for a minimum amount of injury time!)
Others
I am not going to tell you which I would do in case it goes wrong but a few things that may help you with your decision -

- driving to Glasgow airport from Murrayfield would nromally take roughly 1 to 1 and a half hours on clear roads
- parking will be pretty hard around Murrayfield
- there isnt a station at Glasgow airport so you have to go into Glasgow Central Station or Queen Street and either get a bus or a cab which will be another half hour or so (having of course had to get into town to get the train in Edinburgh - Haymarket probably a little nearer than Waverley)
- Murrayfield is about 6-7 miles on a straight road to Edinburgh airport
- not sure which route the buses go but going towards the airport would be going out of town so probably away from a lot of the fans - it is quite a congested road though
- you have to drive past Edinburgh airport to get to the motorway to Glasgow
- theoretically you should be able to make either flight but is difficult to know the impact all those people will have - the roads round there can be painfully slow on a match day

I dont know if any of that is any help at all but I hope you get whichever flight ok and enjoy the rugby!
