Travel Info What area in Athens should I book my hotel? Travel Tips It really kinda depends on what you plan to do while you are here. If you want a lot of time near beaches (although the Athens beaches aren't the best, they are still very enjoyable on a hot summer day!), the previous suggestion about staying in Glyfada is a good one, but it will indeed be rather costly. Otherwise, if you want to see historical sights and walk around the city a lot, look for something more centrally located. The best recommendation I could give you is to just try to find something that is close to a Metro station. If you do this, you can get to most places that you will want to visit with ease. Also, if you are in the central part of the city, you can take a tram out to the beach area...not exactly a quick way to get there, but inexpensive and easy. Enjoy your visit!! Others We booked ours a few blocks from the train station since we were traveling throughout Europe by train. It was a nice and clean area and only one subway stop from the Acropolis and Plaka area. We ended up going all over Athens and there really wasn't a "bad area" as far as crime or anything like that - I'd suggest you try and book somewhere near a subway station unless you're going to rent a car or take cabs everywhere. Are you going alone? I will also go to Athens. Hotels are expensive! Would you consider going together?! if u want to have a great time in a great place book a hotel ate glyfada, trust me it will be quite expensive i guess bit it is a great place! very clean with lots of stores and bars and everything actually! trust me!!! I would say to stay close to the historical center, the heart of Athens. Maybe Syntagma or Plaka. |
