Going to Salou in August? |
Travel Info Is it cheap to eat out there. I am going with my 12 year old son is there plenty to do.Staying in La Pinada in the Estival park appartments.Anyone been and how was it. Travel Tips Estival Hotel Complejo, spoken (otel compleho), which means 'hotel complex' h is never pronounced in spanish. The complejo is owned by 'R C International', and you don't get much better then that! They own hundreds of hotels worldwide and have very high standards. They have several Spanish hotels. http://www.rci.com/rciw/rciw_index?body=... Well we have been to Estival park 5 times it's brilliant brilliant brilliant, and fantastic for kids, my 11 yr old loves it and has 'grown up' going there, there's tennis football, waterpolo, loads and loads of stuff and the staff are fantastic with the kids, its a huge complex with 7 pools, you can use all these pools too, and there are three choices of entertainment each nite by the pool in summer, the indoor pool SPORT SALUT has got saunas and a menthol turkish bath 6 jaccuzi's and is very relaxing on a wet day, it is about 拢5 to use this facility, ALSO you must take a rubber swim hat to use the pool, so take some with you as the sports shop is expensive, this is an up market hotel, it is not cheap. Outside of the hotel, the shops are great though. I love Estival so much you wil know you have arrived when you see the lovely trees all along the front outside the hotel. You will be given a map to find your appartment, which can be difficult when you arrive tired, as the place is so big. You will be given a trolley if you have lots of bags or escorted to the accomodation. Estival staff are everywhere and the complejo is very safe and anyone suspicious would be escorted off site. http://www.estivalpark.es/eng/index.asp... The resort is immaculate too, but be sure to tell your family about the pelican crossings on the beachside road, as cars DO NOT have to stop for you in Spain and they often don't even the Police will go past as you wait, it is quite a busy road. The seafront has got toilets and is lovely and clean with ramps and a promenade. The Estival Kids mini club is only small and for under 12's I think, but there are loads of other things going on during the day. We have stayed in Estival one and two and it is spotlessly clean with lovely palm trees and gardens, the hotel is full of metal animal ornaments like dogs and elephants and similar and big old wall pictures and marble floors. The Hotel consists of three hotels in a row, and lots of self catering apartments. As a self caterer you can pay to use the hotel restaurents which are great and especially the brekfast, worth getting up for. Your coach will drive through Salou, on the way to the resort, Salou is a stinking old chanty town in comparison to where you are staying, La pineda is an excellent modern clean resort and all flat with hardly any steps anywhere. Salou is a town and very bustling and scruffy in places. Many of the Salou hotels are away from the sea, Estival is 2 minutes from the sea. The self catering appartments are nearer to the sea than the main hotel building. There's a bus route and its easy to get about, but theres not much need to do that. The Estival complex is car-free, and as a result, it is peaceful and relaxing. On the car park next door, on one day a week, Sunday I think, there is a market which is worth a look at. I get my Spanish CD's from there. If you don't get a sea view when you arrive, you can ask to be moved and they are fine about this and will move you the next day. There are some wonderful restaurants on the seafront and children will be spoilt with chocolate cake and gifts as you eat. There is a new Chinese right at the end of the complex, and around 10 other restaurants and some small bars and small nice quality arcades with jcb digger toys and air hockey. August will be very busy at Estival, but there's loads of stuff to do, theres a dolphinarium next door, and a water park is 20 minutes drive away, theres a coach trip if u really want to go. You will drive near to the waterpark on the way to Estival, and the coach guide will point it out! Its got a big rolercoaster you can see for miles around. All the shops in La Pineda have been built in the last 5 years and are all new and fresh looking. At the end of the Estival complex there is a good newsagents it sells everything, and it is also a post office and sells alcohol, 70P for wine, and you must try their LARIOS gin, it is very good value for money. Bring some home in a washed plastic bottle so the bottle doesn't break in your case. Others loads to do, especially for the kids. It will be very hot in August, so make sure you look after your skin.... yes i have been there, great for kids, beach, shops, restaurants... i don't know how cheap as i didn't pay! Why have you asked this question in 'Greece'? Salou is in Spain!!! I lived there for 3 years! Always plenty to do without even leaving La Pineda, prices have gone up since the advent of the Euro but still offer good value for money. its lovely there do a trip to barcelona and the local theme park is excelent. Lovely beaches ect have a nice time |
