Greek Drachmas? |
Travel Info I know greece uses the Euro and have done since 2002 but could anybody tell me approx what the exchange rate would have been and if you have greek drachmas now how you go about exchanging them. Many thanks Travel Tips Boohoo, I want the Drachma back!! :-S Euro svks big time! lol Others 1 Euro = 340,75 drachmas. In order to exchange them now you have to go to the bank of Greece, I think (TRAPEZA THS ELLADOS). Their site is www.bankofgreece.gr, I guess you can find contact info there and ask them. Not the National Bank of Greece, it's another thing, like the central treasury or something, it doesn't have branches etc. Perhaps the major banks can also exchange, but they would keep a commission I guess. nope! the government informed the Greek people about this change long before 2002..they also gave us a big period after the change to exchange our drachmas with euros.after the period was finished banks did accept drachmas for a really long period..now you can't exchange drachmas to euros since the price of euros has been augmented and because it stopped being on the market for so many years.. 1 euro=340,75 drachmas You have to go to the Bank of Greece, they still accept i think, but i am not sure for coins... 1 euro = 340.75 drachmas. Coins cannot be exchanged anymore, but banknotes can until 2010 if I am correct. At the Bank of Greece, which in Athens is very centraly located in Panepistimiou street. If the bank of Greece doesn't exchange drachmas for foreigners, you would find a lot of people in Monastiraki to take your drachmas, because many collectors are searching for drachmas! |
