Travel Tips I am very surprised with your question. where did you find that stupidity ?( sorry, but I cannot find another word) do you know what it means to be "an immigrant" in a new world, not to know the language nor the culture ? you are afraid of your own shadow ! and you are worried about your children.you are strict and you want them to have better life than you did.and your children are raised in different surroundings, different language,different culture, which is strange to you, but very common to them..... there is no Greek-American child that hates his/hers parents.on the opposite: there is deep love and respect, which you can never understand, unless you are one of them. for Greeks - family is in the first place.when their children grow older, they will behave the same as their parents did. you can live anywhere in the world, have any passport - but if you are Greek you are Greek for ever. and your children are. Others Because there are parents do NOT let them date. Their parents are very strict and keep tabs on them every minute. It's all about thinking they know it all! Very common with children of the USA. I am not greek american, but you cant generalise things... It may be exception.Greeks even in America try to keep their traditions.Perhaps, they dont let their children so free, because by their nature greek parents are very protective...And kids are complaining... But not that they hate them,the opposite, they give principles, dont forget that America is a country where people from different races live, and of course as in all countries and especially so big, there are dangers... In Greece also parents are like that..And in the majority of Mediterranean countries..Have you ever dealed with an italian american?they are worse in their traditions... I agree with what the others said and I only want to add that many emigrants' children have problems with their parents, because the racism exists and they confront with problems in their schools. So this is like a boomerang, immigration "returns" to the parents, as if they hadn't had enough by leaving their country! I have no idea because their parents let them get away with everything and they can do whatever they want and get whatever they want. I'm married to a Greek and in his family - the kids rule. They totally control the parents in every way, it's sickening!!! Are you sick?greek kids do not hate their parents and I don't care what american kind do.Parents in Greece give their children a lot of freedom... |
