What are the similarities and the differences of Greece and Armenia? |
Travel Info What are the similarities and the differences of Greece and Armenia? Travel Tips It is said, that Armenians and Greeks are descendants.. they were both a minority in Turkey and both victims of Genocide. As if now, language is different, location is different, some traditions and foods are the same. Greeks are bordered by a body of water and have easier transportation, where as Armenia is surrounded by countries. Also there are many Armenians in Greece. We are both Christian orthodox .. We both have large families and we consider our 5th cousin as our brother ( like: my big fat greek wedding ) We like meat and cheese.. =] Others In Armenia, they separet the men from the boys. In Greece, they do it with a crowbar. I really dont know many things, i never dealed with it, the only thing i know, is that they are also christianns orthodox. Dear friend Araxis, or whatever else, i am more greek than anyone else in this site, the prove is if you have ever read my answers or questions, something that i dont believe, you are juging without knowing, -that i got so many times report abuse defending my country... And you my dear? What do you want in the turkish section?since you are against turks? I really don't know much about Greeks, but this things are for sure we are both Christians and Orthodox but ours is kind of different, we both have lands in turkish territory, we both have dolma..lol. And they always talk for Armenian favor, unlike this lady here which is always in turks side, and that makes me think she is not a Greek. Both are ancient people but geographically separated by thousands of Km Both share the same religious background of orthodox Christianity, and both suffered during the last stages and decline of the Ottoman empire especially in the 1920s. Language is totally different. Geographically Armenia is in Asia isolated by mountains with no access to the sea. In Greece there does not exist a single area that is more than 180 km from the sea. Armenia finally became an independent nation after the fall of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s. Greece has been one of the founding members of the EU. Both Greeks and Armenians share one thing in common and that is there are a few million of both of them in diaspora. They are both Orthodox and they both have important communities all over the world, which are distinguished in commerce, science and art. As for Araxi's reference to the "lady above", I have to inform her that Laonarda is present as well in the Italian, French, and Spanish section (evidently Araxi cannot visit these sections for lack of knowledge of respective languages), she gives an everyday fight against Scopje provocations towards Greece, she's a perfect "ambassador" of tourism to Greece, and both her Greek and Italian family branches go back at least 1.000 years ago, so, do not criticize so easily and superficially.... Similarities: Majority of Greeks and Armenians are Orthodox Christians. They both lived under the Ottoman Empire for centuries and enjoyed full freedom of religion and language. They both have great cuisines. Differences: Greeks in Greece and outside are very friendly people and they do not hate Turks. Armenian diaspora is obsessed with a hatred for Turks. |
