I have to go to hospital in crete today, anyone know what theyre like? |
Travel Info ive had really bad earache for last 2 days and it definatley needs sorting - pain killers are not working now. Anyone know 1st what theyll do and 2nd what greek hospitals are like? Any help would be great cos im petrified. Travel Tips I know of a couple of people who needed treatment at hospital in Crete, the one in Chania, one was for a serious condition. The hospital is excellent all the tests that need to be done are done in record time in comparison to the UK. The hospital is very clean. The only difference is if you have to stay in hospital the family's come in to look after the relative and do most of the nursing (The nurses administer the drugs) having so many people in the ward can be quite stressful. The doctors are excellent, but you may have some language difficulties regarding explanation of medical terms. There is also a excellent health centre in Vamos if you only have a walk in type enquiry. If its just a earache you might be better going to one of these type of centres as they are very quick and efficient. I dont know what end of the Island you are at but the Vamos Health Centre is close to Chania and they speak excellent English.There are many English living in this area of Crete. I am sure you will be fine. I needed dental while I was out there, that was fine too. Others Greek hospitals can not be worse than all that wax in your ear at the moment. lol And as the next answerer told ya, they wont keep you in for ear each, jeeesh! Have you tried going to the pharmacist? They are usually very helpful & know what they are doing. The hospitals are usually pretty good in Crete, good doctors but not much nursing care - but you won't be staying in for earache anyway! they r excellent @ Well Greece in general is wonderful... hospitals are awful tho! theres a page on this website which explains about hospital visits etc in crete apparently they are much more efficant best of luck get well soon Are you working over there if so tell me how you went about it drop me an email ive just got back from heraklion and i didnt want to leave |
