Greek Islands--what is the best way to travel in October from Rhodes to Santorini to Athens?

Travel Info
Do the ferry boats and hydrofoils run consistently and reliably during that time of year? It appears that flying between islands requires a change of planes in Athens which seems ludicrous. Thanks for your help

Travel Tips
There is no connection (sea or air) between Rhodes and Santorini. The best (and cheapest) is to fly to Heraklion and then take the ferry to Santorini. No problem between Santorini and Athens.

Dear Gary:

Appart from the previously posted option of flying to Heraklion and then taking a ferry to Santorini, I would like to point out that although this might be the cheapest way to travel between your chosen destinations it is not necessarily the best since it is very time consuming.

I would like to suggest that you fly from Rhodes to Athens and then from Athens to Santorini. There are two airlines that service these routes Aegean Airlines and Olympic Airways. You can find ticket pricing and availability information from the following web sites:

Olympic Airways: http://www.olympicairlines.com/...

Aegean Airlines: http://www.aegeanair.com/aegeanen/home/...

I hope that this information is of assistance.

Best regards,

Konstantinos

PS There is a ferry that connects Rhodes with Santorini but as far as I know it does not operate in October.
If you are a large company, why don't you think of renting a yaght, with the skipper, it sound expensive, but it might turn out to be excellent, reqwarding, even cheaper!
Since you will be living in hotel, maybe the hotel cost might be higher than the yaght total cost! Think about it!
There is a boat once a week from Rhodes to Santorini and vice versa. In addition, there is a company skyexpress, it provides sea planes. Check it out. www.skyexpress.gr
Rhodes because bigger than santorini island...and more people than santorini.
Try Aegean Air, the domestic airline in Greece. They are cheap and very reliable. I love them, much much better than Olympic. Take a look at their shcedules and routes and see if they are suitable for you. I think their website is www.aegeanair.com they have an english option.

Yes the ferries will be reliable at that time. Check out www.anes.gr anes, which are initials, is the name of one of the ferry companies in Greece and they most certainly run from Rhodes.

Good luck.... Whilst your in Rhodes, check out Symi island, its 45 minutes away by hydrofoil and it the most beautiful island I have ever seen. I almost fainted when I saw it. Simply breathtaking. Worth a day trip!

:) have fun!
