Going to Alikansas, Zante! has anybody been before, tips? |
Travel Info I am going to alikansas in Zante in 4 weeks and i was just wondering has anybody been before? and is they a good water park in zante? is they any good shop? what is the airport like? Any tips and what and what not to do! thanks very much Gems Travel Tips Hi - sorry i have not been to Alikansas, but stayed in Zakyinthos, not sure how far away that is from you though. But just to let you knnow their airport is rubbish and very very boring. They do not have alot of planes go through so it is very basic! Very Very hot!!! I heard that their is a good water park i forget what it is called but it was wicked and worth checking out! Shops are not all that - depends what your after - mostly touristsy gift shops. Hope this helps. Others Have a read through this lot to get a feel of the place. http://www.realholidayreports.com/report... Just back from Zante last week & visited Alikanas a few times. Typical touristy place so would advise you hire a car, not from rep as too expensive, try booking via internet with Smart Car rentals, good deals & deliver & collect from accom. Anyway, yes there is an excellent water park about 20/30 mins drive from you. If you do not drive book a trip via numerous "trip salespeople" you will find along the main strip. Cheaper than reps & exactly the same trip i.e. coach to water park & entrance. For shops - usual tourist shops & supermarkets in resort but if you hire a car, head for Zante town & on corner where you turn left (right for waterpark) there are two excellent shops, one for clothes& one for shoes. Spent a fortune in there as they were so good and cheap. All the latest styles along with good quality. Zante town itself is brilliant for shopping but note that a lot of them close for "siesta" approx 2.00pm for a few hours. Good time to find somewhere for a long, lazy lunch. Arrivals at airport not bad but departures still in old building and a bit of a nightmare as you can be packed in like sardines. My advice, unless you are on the last flight at night (10.00pm) is to check in then go back outside, find a bench & picnic or just enjoy the sunshine until an hour or so before your flight then go through passport control. Hope this helps. S. I am from Zante and I go every summer and Easter. Listen, I advise you to rent a car and go everywhere. Alikanas is a turistic resort and it only worths swimming and sleeping there. But I have to tell you that there are many many great beaches in Zante, like (Porto Vromi (rocks and sand at the north), Porto Roxa, Agios Nikolaos (sandy, at Vassilikos village), Limnionas, Keri, Marathonissi, Porto Roma, Daphne, Porto Zoro etc. You have to visit the beach where the ship wreck happened and the blue caves and swim in there! Very nord there is a place I would advise you to go and eat. The best tavern in Zante with the greatest view. The place is called Xigia and it's above the Xigia beach. You will certainly enjoy food and view. I guarantee! And do not miss the "Arekia" tavern in the city of Zakynthos, where you can listen to some traditional songs, called cantades. If you ask where it is, everybody knows it. I am giving you a site to look for everything you want and if you need further information, just ask me: www.zanteisland.com. My tip is: do not go to Laganas for nightlife. Prefer Argasi where greek people go. The clubs are much better and the people have a certain quality. |
