Greek trip time..so gift buying time..what.....?

Travel Info
suggestions to buy for there? One is for a retired banker who is not in good health and is the father of the family I visit. He is the one so hard to buy for!!

Travel Tips
I hear you, sister. I am headed to Greece myself and am in the middle of my gift-buying spree.

For the elderly gentleman, I am buying linen handkerchiefs, since they remember and appreciate them, along with a small cologne, designer, of course. For the elderly ladies, I am buying face creams with lovely scents.

For the young marrieds, I always get rave reviews on a set of placemats with matching napkins and napkin rings, or good quality Irish linen tea towels.

For young to middle aged adults, Calvin Klein or Estee Lauder colognes or cosmetics. Women my age (50) love Natori or Soma sleepwear.

For young ladies, I buy tote bags, zebra print is in fashion this year, or something from Victoria Secret. For young gentlemen, I buy t-shirts from one of those cool websites or Leatherman tools, which have to go in your checked luggage.

Babies get toys, and youngsters get beach gear, flip flops hats, and t-shirts.

I throw in packaged tablecloths and tea towels with logos from local places to give as gifts when I visit acquaintences, along with the required box of sweets. I spend a day at Ross or Stein Mart and finish the whole job. Most of what I buy has to be easy to pack because we downsize our car rental to fit down city and island streets, and those cars are really small! We end up struggling for room, so gifts have to be flat and easily packable.

Good luck and happy shopping!!!

The most popular gift I get people is a calendar. People just love them, my friend even cut out all the pictures and framed them afterwards. Honey with nuts is also a favorite and then of course olives and olive oil, soaps and lotions made from olive oil.
Take him one of your homemade pecan pies. He will remember you always.
Yeah - this is always a problem for me too, but its OK once you start looking around. Especially if you are in Athens.

The calendar is actually a good idea, I always bring back a Greek islands one and a Greek cats one for my family and its become traditional now. I also bring a couple of boxes of Loukoumades, some nicely bottled ouzo, some Manouri cheese, and maybe one or two kolomboi worry beads. I've also managed to find some cheap, but not tacky, souvenirs (Greek cross pendant, letter opener, evil eye paperweight, Attic vase, copy moulding from the Parthenon). I've even brought back a clay pot for slow cooking chicken and lamb !
i think he'd enjoy sth from where you live!!!a calender is good with pictures of where you are from!
i buy shirts they like them!also i take chocolate,too!
anything that is from where you are is welcomed!!
i buy whiskey, too!but you said he was in poor health so...
Go to Rhodes to do your shopping - it's fabulous there and they have something for everyone!!!
