This is not a question, it is info for tourists in Greece? |
Travel Info Dear friends, I just wanted to let you know that this weather is not normal in Greece, it is an extreme heatwave, so make sure you take precautions, like not going up on the Acropolis at mid-day, not making the tour of the centre of Athens on foot today, etc. I am saying this, because tourists expect Greece to be warm, so sometimes they don't realize this is something out of the ordinary, they think, "well, this is what Greece is supposed to be like, Greeks live here all the time, so we can make it too". But Greeks have been very careful for the past week, the TV says to stay in an air-conditioned area, we don't go out if we don't have to. This is an extreme temporary phenomenon. Fortunately, it will be better tomorrow and during the week-end we'll be fine. Go to the sea if you can, but wear a hat and sun-cream. Travel Tips Good advise, most tourists think heat is normal in Greece and go to the beach,to the center of the town, for walks etc at all times of the day, when it's really dangerous and the sun so hot it burns straight through your skin.Always use a high sunblock and always wear a hat when after 10 o clock in the sun...And don't go to the beach between the hours of 11:30 and 16:00,why risk it?? Others Gia sou vre malaka! as they say in greece. Thanx. Thank you by the name of all Macedonians tourists in Athens. You are soo kind Hello dear! Thanks for the important info! Sorry for the brainless who answered first! Keep cool! We are only in the first week after Summer Solstice! Good advice so hope its taken onboard. I would like to say, that drinking hot tea opens the pores and this helps to cool one down, the clod drinks close the pores and you wont cool as much as the hot drinks do for you. I love my tea when on holiday in such a beautiful country as Greece, mind you tea is not my only drink haha. Cheers. Visiting beautiful Greece for 20years now. |
