Wow, tough question. I would travel to Guatemala again in a heartbeat - it is a beatuiful country!

However, It is dangerous. If you are going to a tourist area like Antigua, it is relative safe, but Guat City and other areas have alot of crime. August is also during Hurricane season. Check out the state department website for travel advisories.

Traveling in Guatemala is a crap shoot anytime of year. Check into how many folks get kidnapped there every year!
