Without knowing what the assignment is, I could be steering you wrong, but you might want to focus on the things that are about people - religion, politics, culture, not so much history unless it's specifically a history project. "Muliticulturalism" is a good way to score points with teachers these days. Look up on Google, about Guatemalan coffee! They grow it and export it to the USA.
