Is it hard to adapt to Guatemala? |
Travel Info My boyfriend is from Guatemala and he wants to move back there. We are thinking about getting married but I have never been there and it's really far from here so I am having doubts. I know that i want to be with him forever but it's just too far. Travel Tips I have spent about 2 weeks there. You may want an opinion from someone who's been there longer, but, here's my 2 cents. I went LAST year, for 2 days, to Guatemala City for missions. I met a man, that kept me in his family's house for those 2 days, while there. HIS family was VERY nice, FED me, and drove me around. I COULD NOT have been MORE blessed staying with ANYONE else. The next 10 days there, was in 06August. THESE people I stayed with HERE, had a Church, and were AS nice as the FIRST time I was there. RED FLAG: I was showing this pastor how he could just WALK 2 miles a day to lose weight. We were out walking this one day, outside his neighborhood, and out of NOWHERE another man comes to HIM asking directions to some place. MY PASTOR there then, nervously, RAISED his hands, and said SEVERAL times, "I HAVE NO MONEY!" My pastor there had been robbed a BUNCH, and after I stopped lauhing, he explained," That's what the last robber asked me, before he pulled a gun on me." My laughter went to stone!! Gangs in Guatemala are some of the WORST in Latin America. STAY WITH SOMEONE YOU KNOW, LOVE, AND TRUST, and you CAN be safe!! DO NOT go without KNOWING someone!! It's FAR too dangerous to go and stay on your own. Others dont go there dangerous and ... not nice guatemala its a beatiful place to live, dangerous??? like any other country , so don't worry,it's too far for you?, take a plane .... |
