Travel Tips The most interesting thing about Guatemala is that in a relatively small country you can find different cultures, biodiversities and natural sceneries in a country full of history. First of all, Guatemala was the center of the mayan empire, so you can find the greatest mayan cities in the northern region (by the way, in the middle of a tropical rain forest) like Tikal and Yaxcha. Some of this cities are still covered by the jungle and every year new temples are discovered. Guatemala was also the center of the central american colonial period and Antigua is the best preserved colonial city in the Americas. Its amazing how centuries have gone by, without affection the architechtonical beauty of this colonial city. One of the best parts of Guatemala is its natural scenery. Since its temperature is always mild (its called the land of the eternal spring), then most of the country is covered with forests. Guatemala has 33 volcanoes. Four of them you can see from the capital city and Antigua (Agua, Acatenango, Fuego and Pacaya). Pacaya volcano is the closest one to the city and its an active volcano that you can actually climb and see the lava flowing from a couple of meters away! Another touristic attraction is Lake Atitlan which is sorrounded by volcanoes and its considered by some people as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Guatemala city is a modern city (the most modern of Central America) and its also a nice city to be in. I personally think that the best part of Guatemala is Guatemala itself (you cannot think of something that is outstanding from the others), and the most interesting part of Guatemala is the culture (if someday you come to Guatemala you will know why). Others Tikal is amazing, Antigua is awesome, and Lago Atitlan is just the most beautiful. It is a beautiful country |
