Travel Info I'm planning to rent a car and extend my trip to Belize. Travel Tips Yes there is road connection between Guatemala and Belize. The road extends from Flores, Peten (where Tikal is) to Melchor de Mencos (the guatemalan town that borders Belize) and Benque Viejo (the belizean town). This route its about 100 kms long and takes around 2 hours, since there is part of the guatemalan road that is not paved. There is a lot of traffic through this road so its safe to drive on it, and you will enjoy the scenery, since you go through the Guatemalan jungle into Belize. It has to be, but is not recomended to do it alone. The risks of being robbed are high. I live in Guatemala, and traveling in roads is not recomended. |
