Anybody been to Guatemala? Going in March, what is the climate like and clothing reccommended? |
Travel Info Will be on a mission trip heading into the highlands. Travel Tips I live in Guatemala city. March and April are our more hottest months. Take into account that Guatemala has a mild temperature all year long, so even in our hot months temperature dont rise above 25 degrees celsius (77 degrees fahrenheit). In the highlights is a bit cooler and the temperature stays around 20 degrees celsius (68 degrees fahrenheit). You can dress normally (pants or jeans, shirt). If you are on a mission trip bring comfortable shoes. Bring a hat or a cap, since you will be in the mountains, the sun burns more, even if the weather is cool. You also might need a jacket. You are going to fly into Guatemala city, so you can buy all the essentials for your trip and also you can find in most of the towns of the highlands. If you need specific information, post the place you are going, since the highlands cover all the western part of Guatemala, and I can inform you better. Source(s): I am a Guatemalan. Other Travel Tips Have long and short pants, good walking/hiking shoes. Just in case, a couple layers of fleece, fleece hat (if in high highlands), gloves. I understand it does not get bitterly cold. Washable shirts, underwear that dry quickly.Long-sleeves help fight sun, bugs. Pretty much what you'd expect for a tropical climate. It may be warm in the daytime, cool at night. We were in the Atitlan area in Dec. a few years ago. NELLIE i've been to Guatemala--the highlands are cool--take some warm clothing---not like the Arctic---but warm. My mother was born there & I've been there a couple of times on vacation w/ the folks when I was younger. I don't remember if March was the rainy season or not......find out ---if it is expect a LOT of rain & thunder & lighting!!
