Best route into Halifax? |
Travel Info I'll be motorcycling into Halifax soon, and wonder if it's better to take 118 into Dartmouth and catch one of the bridges, or stay on 102 and come into Halifax from the west? I'm headed for the Marriott Harbourfront on Upper Water St. Travel Tips Staying on the 102 is out of the way and you'll have to come all the way across the city and take a rather complicated route to get yourself downtown. So take the Dartmouth route and come in on the MacDonald Bridge. Take the Barrington Street ramp off the bridge. It will take you right downtown and going over the bridge will allow you to get a beautiful view of Halifax harbour and downtown Halifax. It's also quicker, if that counts for anything. Enjoy your trip. Others I would be most inclined to take the 102 because I'm so familiar with that route I could do it blind folded...and I wouldn't have to pay the 75cent toll for the bridge...however, taking the 118 would probably be more direct and would require less city side street manoeuvering. After crossing the bridge, head downtown on Barrington and you will be right there. If you do decide to take the 102, continue to the end of the high, turn right onto Conaught, and then left onto North St. This will take you right down to Barrington and you can head into downtown. Hope this helps. I recommend digging a tunnel |
