Been to peru? |
Travel Info going to peru this summer, does anyone have any input on the safety of tourists there? cuzco to be exact. any tips for hiking the inca trail Travel Tips I have been to Peru 3 times. It is safe for tourists as long as you are smart. Keep all valuables hidden. When riding in a car in Lima, do not dangle your arm out the window with a wristwatch on. Use a moneybelt if possible. Lima can be dangerous in some neighborhoods, but you should be ok as long as you do not draw attention to yourself. As for Cuzco, it is quite safe. It really is a beautiful city, and the people there are really nice. I never felt like I was in danger there. As for hiking the Inca trail, if you are into walking for a few days on a filthy trail covered in human excriment, then go ahead, but I recommend this instead... Take the PeruRail from Cuzco to Aguas Calientes (the town at the bottom of the mountain from Machu Pichu), and then climb up to Macchu Pichu first thing in the morning, around 4 am. That way you arrive at the ancient city right as the sun is coming up over the mountains, and you have a good couple of hours before the busses (yes, there is a road and tourists now come up in busses) get to the top. Have a great trip, and if you want to know any more about visiting Peru, feel free to contact me. Others haven`t been to that car run on alcohol country.non-english guys.would visit dat place someday never been to peru Have a wonderful trip! I have not been there, but I have heard good things. Common sense should keep you safe, but you can go to www.smarttraveler.com.au and see if there are any alerts. Have a blast! |
