Many of the cars available in Holland would have LATCH systems -- Mercedes, BMWs, etc, but they would likely be the more expensive rental cars. However, LATCH isn't a European requirement, so I would take the instructions for your car seat with you, so that you can install it with regular seat beats as well as LATCH, just in case. Frankly, you should probably practice installing it before you leave, because airplane seat installations are tough, as well! I would definitely bring the car seat your child is comfortable with and used to, and, most importantly, you know if the seat is new & never been in an accident! If you've lost the installation instructions, try the company's website to find them online. In general, car seats correctly installed with regular seat belts, according to Consumer Reports, are just as safe if not safer than ones installed with LATCH, so don't worry about that.
Good luck with your travels! We enjoyed Holland very much, but since we drove a 60-hp. Smart car, I had to stifle the laughs before answering your question. (2 seater with no power and no way to install car seats) |
