What is the best way to handle the excess pressure on your ears when flying? |
Travel Info What is the best way to handle the excess pressure on your ears when flying? Travel Tips This is the worst part of flying for me...the pain in my ears from the pressure is unbearable! I went to an ear doctor and he told that about an hour before take off, take a Sudafed...then once on the plane (before take off), use Affrin. It works! Good Luck! (The pain is from the pressure and the moisture in the ears/nasal passages...so the Sudafed and Affrin dries it up...I've tried gum, opening my mouth real wide, holding my nose and blowing out, and this is the only thing that works for me). Others Open your mouth wide or chew gum Chewing gum. chewing gum works for some people. There are also some ear plugs that allow the pressure out as you take off and land(I got them at a travel store). I have used both methods with success school of hard knocks The best way to handle the excess pressure on your ears when flying is to yawn really big. Or swallowing a drink or chewing gum. You also, can take an antihistamine before boarding and then chew gum as and extra measure. It is important for young children or babies to be checked for inner ear problems before flying some doctors will not allow their patients to fly with ear problems already. When they are flying to allow them to suck a bottle or drink something on take offs. Judy S. |
