I am going to travel to italy next month i was wondering how i can overcome my fear of taking off, in flight turbulance and how i can aviod fraking out for the 8 hr flight???

Travel Tips
Fear is only in your mind. Flying is no different than riding in a car or anything else that has the potential of resulting in an accident. There are far less plane crashes than car crashes. Is your fear really of planes or dying? Because if it is of dying, there are a billion ways to get killed and you won't be able to control it when/if it happens. The only way to conquer your fears is to face them. Focus on the good... flying is less time consuming and tiring than driving. You will get to spend more time vacationing than traveling and you won't be as tired when you get back home. Take a DVD player, a good book or something that will really occupy your mind. But most of all, change your mind set and think positively about flying... after all, your going to ITALY. Enjoy your trip!!!

Others
enjoy yourself.

Bring an ipod, magazign, book.
Candy,

If you can afford it get a seat in buisness class. It awsome =]
drink heavily- our go to a therapist who deals with fear of flying..
watch snakes on a plane O+<
Think logically. Statistically speaking you are many times safer travelling by airplane than by car. This includes adjusting for the higher frequency of drivers vs flight passengers.
Ok Mr East coast dweller, the take off is the worst bit (or best bit in my case), the rest is pretty dull, boredom is the main problem.
Turbulance is not that bad either!
Reality. Force to acknowledge that the chances of a crash are extremely slim. Keep thinking it over and over until you reach cruisinf altitude. Also, sit as far to the front of the plane as possible. Jolts are felt much stronger toward the back, and it is more quiet near the front.

Or, see your Doctor. He/she can give you a sedative for the flight to and fro.
