Hiking is for berks. Stay home, drink beer and watch telly and you won't get blisters. Simple.

Vaseline! Rub it on and put your socks on over the top. You can buy specialist trekking socks too that help. Failing that specialist double layered running socks ("1000 mile") work a treat. Believe me I know after running the London Marathon last year - phew!
As per experience, Try doubling your socks. and take a rest every four hours of trekking, unloosed your shoes to allow air to cool your weary feet.
