However, I wish to inform you that lakhs of foreigners are living in India in the Metro cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Madras (Chennai), Bangalore and Hyderabad. At the moment there are no epidemic or endemic diseases prevailing in India.
Small pox has been eradicated. Polio incidences have been brought to the minimum level. All the metros have world class hospitals and India boasts of galaxy of medicine practitioners.
So, practically you need not take any preventing inoculations or vaccinations.

If you are going from the US, you will not need any vaccinations. In fact, they don't even ask you for any medical papers at immigration in India.
