What percentage of people survive plane crashes? |
Travel Info heard this recently on tv ans was gobsmacked now can't remember Travel Tips Commercial airlines around the world now carry nearly 2 billion passengers a year, and despite the inherent dangers of rocketing through the sky miles above the Earth in a very heavy piece of metal, these travelers are amazingly safe. In fact, the odds of dying on a commercial airline flight are as low as 11 million to 1! That said, a lot can go wrong at 33,000 feet above the ground, and if you鈥檙e unlucky enough to be aboard when something does, the decisions you make could mean the difference between life and death. Keep in mind that about 90% of airplane crashes have survivors, so even if the worst does happen, your odds aren鈥檛 as bad as you might think. Others I do not know, but I heard that a 2 seater Cessna crashed into a Belfast cemetary last night. So far the Irish police have recovered 327 bodies. apparently more people are killed by donkeys than plane crashes and that's a fact thank god to those who did survive, sorry don't know percentage. Not many survive when a plane crashes, but some do. Nonetheless, you are more likely to die in a car crash, than a plane crash. Even though planes carry hundreds of passengers at a time, air travel is much safer than ground travel. Strange, but true. 0% would be my guess.... depends on the kind of plane. the bigger the plane, the more fuel, the lower the odds. (plus bigger impact, as more speed required to get airborne to begin with). people frequently survive crashes in small planes, and rarely on large commercial size planes. (thankfully, those crash less often.) |
