Can i take my legal prescription of morphine with me while flying through the USA? |
Travel Info i have a legal prescription for a morphine synthetic in pill form that i have been taking for chronic pain for nearly a year now, i have the medication in the original bottle and a photocopy of the original prescription from my doctor. my end destination is chile. but i leave toronto and make a single stopover in dallas. am i going to be hassled/detained due to the strength of this drug? i can only find 'regulations about drugs' information on the net but nothing specifically on morphine itself. thanks. Just make sure you have your Doctors perscribtion note with you in case you get questioned, Carry the meds with you at all times. Do not split the contents of the bottle into two bottles. Make sure it is an updated bottle with a current label. Fill your script as close to departure date as possible so they can see it was filled within a reasonable amount of time. Have the number of the pharmacist handy so they can telephone the pharmacist to make sure it is legitimate and you are smart to take a photocopy of the original script with you. Also, inform your physician you are travelling and maybe ask if they authorities can contact him/her to verify your script is legitimate. Maybe if your physician is agreeable, ask them to provide a doctors note, with the doctors business card attached. This will again reinforce you are taking these under doctors care. If you are travelling to Texas for your stopover, I would not expect they would not hassle you. As a chronic pain patient myself, I am familiar with all the MISINFORMATION about this medication just as you are. Do not, under any circumstances, allow them to take your medication away from your nor should you let it out of your sight. I don't know much else you can do other than co operate with them. However, I would not allow them to bully you in any form or fashion. It is better to just come home than to have your meds confiscated by idiots and rent a cops. Good luck!! as long as it is in the prescription bottle it came in with the correct label affixed it is not a problem....if you do have the original prescription it wouldnt hurt to have that...if you really wanna play it safe ask your doctor to write a note,on his office stationary stating that you have a script for this etc etc |
