Travel Info a lot of people tells me to drink a lot of water beacuse I travel a lot, I do but, I dont understand why do we get MORE dehydrated when we fly than any other times.... like travel by car, exercising, walking?
Travel Tips
Airplane air is typically drier than desert air, reaching as little as 1% humidity in some high altitude flights. The air has to be constantly cleaned and recirculated, and is generally kept dry, probably to minimize the amount of hydrophilic microbes and the like that are circulated to all the passengers. Dry air will carry less odors and potentially hazardous bacteria as most of these travel in water/moisture.
The ideal % humidity for humans is something like 50%, so an unusually dry atmosphere means we need to drink water to replace what we aren't getting by breathing. |
