What does anyone recommend for a 9 month old traveling thru plane or any complications (ear aches)?

Travel Tips
I have flown internationally since my kids were 2 months old (now they're 7 & 5).

The best think you can do is if the 9 month old is still nursing, make sure your wife covers herself with a blanket and nurses the baby on take off and landing. If the baby is not nursing, give him/her a bottle to drink (milk, water, juice - it doesn't matter) or a pacifier.

Another trick is that if the baby is not taking to the pacifier or wanting to drink or nurse, gently rub the neck of the baby from the chin down to the chest several times - this will cause a swallowing motion which will help with the ears popping.

If I can be of any more help, please feel free to contact me, and I hope you all have a wonderful flight! Source(s): Husband is a pilot

Other Travel Tips
If the baby starts crying during altitude change, tickle his/her nose 'till you get a sneeze. A sneeze momentarily opens the eustachian tubes and equalizes the pressure on the eardrum. Instant relief.
I was told this by a stewardess years ago. It worked for both my kids.
give them baby benadryl... theyll be able to fall asleep and when they wake up theyll already be landed or almost
