Ive been told that if u r doctor or nurse boardaing a plane that u r supposed to inform the flight crew. Is? |
Travel Info this true ?? And is the term 'medical' the term used to inform them ??? Travel Tips health proffesionals by their nature are motivated to help those in need. They are not servants of the people or at the beck and call of the populace. I am sure that if there was a major medical emergency on a plane they would step in and allow there training to be used to save a soul. But it is not law , compulsory or dictated that they do so. After all they also carry the risks and responsibilities that go with that role and thanks to American greed are probably more likely to be sued than thanked. My guess is that they will help if there is a real need but they are not compelled . Others I am a psychiatric nurse and have never told flight attendants what I do for a living.I am not aware that you have to. However if the call went up for medical assistance then i would be there. I don't think there's any legal obligation, but professionalism would out if there was a medical emergency. My brother in law (an A&E doctor) saved a woman's life on a flight from Turkey to the UK, when she had a medical problem - he was just returning from his holiday with his wife and kids - I think the woman was glad he was on the plane! I have just flown back from skiing with a nurse and she has never been told this rule. I doubt if it is true as she knows all the tricks about up-grades You would only need to tel the crew if there was a medical emergency on board that they require assistance with, they would put out an announcement and then it would be up to you to respond if it was something in your field, or you could help I have heard of this i think it is really in case there is a sick person on board, they can call on you to see to the person and see if it is right for them to continue or that they will have to land some where close I've never told 'em and have no intention of doing so in the future. Of course I would assist in an emergency IF they put out a call, the legal implications are enormous if it goes wrong. |
