I need to get away, but i'm nervous about travelling by myself... where do I go? |
Travel Info Are there nice, safe places I can go where I will meet up with other lone travellers? I need to get away and have no one to travel with. Travel Tips slowly but surely i'm saving up $$ to go somewhere in mo. of june. (my ex will have the kids for a whole month!) i wanted to do a cruise because you can request a roommate(s). but i'm not sure i like the high rate of rotovirus on these ships. so i'm thinking of going on a group tour of scotland. you get to hang out with a group, have your own room, but it's geared to be a group tour. plus there are evenings that you can have for yourself. i too will be traveling alone. go to your travel agency and tell them you are interested in tour groups. even if you are traveling in the states they still have group tours. or put an ad in the paper. do your own screening. good luck! Others A train Tour or some type of travel Tour you will meet others people, and spent time in the company of your selection If you travel, for housing you might loook into a Hostel. They are ususally good ways to really find out about an area especially If you travel independently and either stay in cheaper places or eat in restaurants / cafes where backpackers hang out, you will meet other people. Alternatively, check out two UK-based travel companies - Exodus and Explore Worldwide....group tours for like minded people. If you're travelling along you can choose (on most trips) to pay a single supplement and have your own room or they will pair you up with someone of the same sex. Most of the group will be British but there are often Americans, Canadians, Australians and other nationalities in the group. If you are not based in the Uk, you will need to book 'land only' and arrange your own flights but these companies are ideal for people who want to travel 'on their own' but not really be on their own. As for where to go - the world is your oyster. You could try going ith a tour group, that way you still have the security of travelling with other people. Also you don't have to worry about the plans as it has all been taken care of. |
