Do doctors check for THC in your blood when you take a blood test? |
Travel Info When you go to the docotors and he or she takes your blood. They usually look for diseases and sickness but do they also look for presents of THC in your blood? Travel Tips Drug testing by blood, urine, saliva or any other method (except forensic hair analysis)is designed only to detect whether or not a specific drug or drug metabolite is present at the time the test is performed. This means that unless your doctor has reason to suspect that you are taking Marijuana he will not perform or request the test for it while doing a routine blood analysis. THC is an abbreviation for 11-nor-delta9 Tetrahydrocannibinol- 9 -carboxylic acid, the primary metabolite of Marijuana. Marijuana is a hallucinogenic agent derived from the leaves, flowers or seeds of the hemp plant. THC (and PCP) in particular are stored by the system in the fatty lipid tissue and are gradually released into the blood stream until cleared. For chronic users with a high body fat count, this process can take several weeks. Source(s): http://360.yahoo.com/jamie_hassen... Other Travel Tips Normally no, but they can, and if they wanted to thats how they would Just ask what blood tests will be done! It's your blood! And if you know WHY your blood was taken you'll know what it'll be tested for. It is absolutely wrong and possibly illegal, for a doctor to test your blood for anything other than the substances he has been asked to test for. Whether he thinks you may have thc or any drug or not. |
