Is it safe to travel in sri lanka?

Travel Info
With the current political situation (i.e.bombings etc) is it going to be safe for tourists?

Travel Tips
To my knowledge tourists have not been targeted in terrorist attacks. Unlike in Egypt. So I would say it would be safe to travel as a tourist.

Others
It is always a good idea to check the Foreign Office website.
I would NEVER go anywhere, stupidity reigns openly, which armed conflict is. Why take a chance?
I have travelled to Sri Lanka twice in the last 5 years. It is a beautiful country with wonderful people and history. However it is troubled and you will experience road blocks etc. Chances are if you go nothing bad will happen to you, lets face it we run a risk getting on the tube going to work every day.
If you do go I receommend a hotel called Kandalama - quite simply the most stunning setting for a hotel I have ever seen.

it is depends when and where you are travelling - you must consult with the tour provider or to consulate
If you avoid the north and east, you should be OK.

The risk is reflected in the low cost of holidays in Sri Lanka.
