Help..tummy ache and travelling? |
Travel Info My son complains that he gets tummy ache when travelling in the car..he was sick once. Is tummy ache associated with travel sickness or could it be a psycological thing? Going on a four hour journey soon and dont relish the thought of him throwing up all the way.. Travel Tips First, you have to ask the family's doctor, he is the best who will give you the advise, because its a matter related to your son's health and its not a joke ... so please ask the doctor and he will give you the best adivce you and your son need. Others Could be related to motion sickness, OR it depends on where he is going to...He may not like the destination that's why he's expressing it with aches and pain! Sounds like motion sickness. If he looks out the window and is able to the see the horizon, that often helps. If you're worried, give him a gravol to settle his stomach beforehand. Check dosages since i don't know his age or size. Maybe he's afraid to travel Hi Julie - Sounds like travel sickness, I used to suffer from this as a kid (still do throw up on coaches, v embaressing!) To help, try getting some anti-motion-sickness tablets from the pharmacy (Dont know the name of tablets Im afraid but a pharmacist will help). Also get some wristbands from the pharmacy. The ones I have are like sweatbands but they have a button in the middle. The button lieson the inside of your wrist when you put them on. They work on pressure points on the wrists and really reduce sickness. Honest! Ive used them for YEARS. Hope this helps. Oh, one more thing - ginger helps so maybe a ginger biscuit will help settle his tummy. Good luck!xx I get travel sick all the time....grrr. If it is travel sickness I have found some things that help. Ginger is very good. It helps settle the stomach I have found sucking hard sweets helps (i was very ill once and found sucking my thumb...a habit I have never partaken in beofre) was excellent. Cool air on the face is great. There is nothing worse that being in a stuffy vehicle. Be careful of the food you feed him. I still am not a fan of chocolate after being car sick at easter when i was 8! Try simple things (perhaps not dairy or stodgy food). You might want to keep him occupied. looking down at books etc is bad bad bad. Try singing (we had no radio), i spy , find a.....(eg red car, blue roof, a person on a bike) Anyway good luck. When i was younger i coundn't travel my mother got me wrist bands from the chemist & they were great & allso before the journey try & not let him eat to much! I hope this helps |
