What's the best motion sickness medicine over the counter? I'm going on a cruise and don't want to get sick!

My mother swears by Bonine - no sickness and no side effects. I haven't tried it out of sheer stubborness, but my sister now swears by it, as well. They both get sick in the bathtub but easily survived a 10 day Alaskan cruise with it. I tried ginger on a driving tour in Hawaii, but alas, sleep was my final solution (not the best one when you want to see the sights).

I have always loved the patches, but they can leave a tinny taste in your mouth, and will make you dizzy if you try to use them multiple days. And Dramamine puts me straight to sleep.

Dramamine?
Those wristbands that can stop motion sickness.
They work but it just digs into your wrist so you have to take it off once in a while.
My mom used it in during her pregancy.
The best solution I've found are the motion sickness wrist bands. You can find them at the counter of any drug store. I think they start at roughly $3 or $4 per pair, depending on the brands. They work wonders on the open seas and on cruises.

Dramamine (they now have a less drowsy formula) also works, but still makes you a little bit spacey. But a combination of the two for a cruise should help you out tremendously.

Gravol works real good. I have to take a ferry a couple times a year and couldn't make it without it. But last year the drug store didn't have any but the had the cheaper drug store brand and it even worked better. Make sure you take plenty with you because by law they cannot sell meds on a ship. If you do get sick like I did the first time I sailed the doctor had me turn the air conditioning down low. Drink some flat coke and eat some carmels. There heavy and help settle your stomach. Good luck to you and hope you enjoy your trip
Try ginger candies. They really work well and no side effects.
