Travel Tips If you have a fear of flying, definitely stick to the bigger planes.. they are notoriously safer. If you look at it this way, a jet has more than one engine, so you know if something would happen to one, you have backups. Small planes sometimes only have one engine.. not good.. Also consider this, in the US alone, about 3000 flights a day take off and land safely.. The odds are good that you will get where you are going without incident. Another fact is that you are safer in a plane than a car :) Good luck with flying. I have been flying on a multi trip basis monthly for years and love it. Personally I believe it is the best and fastest way to travel and I say face the fear and learn to embrace air travel as it is a gateway to a fun lifestyle.Small planes. Big planes feel safer - they don't jump around as much as small planes - and if you do go down in a plane crash you've got more company so you wont die alone ! Honestly, you'll have to try both to determine for youself. But from my own expierences, it all really depends on the pilot. You can have a great plane, and crappy pilot...or a crappy plane and great pilot. In my opnion, being on both small and large aircraft flying around the world, I've been on some pretty crappy flights. Military Planes aren't always the smoothest, but general Boeings are pretty smooth rides, wheras small planes such as a cessna are pretty smooth also. It all really factors down to this 1). the pilot 2). the weather such as turblence. Chris u don't hardly feel nothing in the big jetliners--on them it feels smoother riding than a car but on the small planes u feel every bump and dip, espscially if there's turbulence, like in bad weather. the smaller the plane, the worse it feels, like in those small commuter jets that u take 4 short hops to a connecting flight, those feel like a elevator going up and down-it's kinda scary. once, during a ride on a small jet, thru a thunderstorm, the plane felt like it was going over bumps, i kept praying 4 it 2 be over. |
