When you travel, is there a memento or item that helps you feel safe?

Travel Tips
I always travel with a small sized edition of the Psalms. Mine is in Hebrew and English. Some of these come in teeny tiny sizes--like 3"x5"--so they are no problem to bring in my carry on.

Also--in traditional Judaism there is a custom: If you know of someone who will be travelling, you should give them some small amount of money (25 cents or a dolllar) and ask them to give it as a charitable contribution in their city of destination.

The idea is that now they are not just travelling--now they are actually on a holy mission--to help you fulfill your act of charity. This is what is known as a "mitzvah" or a good deed. Since their safety is necessary for the fulfillment of this mission, the thinking is, G-d will offer them special protection so that they can complete the mitzvah for you.

I have a saint Joseph necklace that my daughter wears and it makes all of us feel more at ease. Not sre why, but it does.
