Carry Waterproof Strike Anywhere Matches-in a Sealed Canister! Be aware of the types of Plants and Animals...in the area's you are hiking in-make it a point to know which ones are poisonous or can do harm. Carry a ample supply of warm undergarments. Map of the area,maybe a Compass-if you know how to use one? Where proper and comfortable Footwear,like a Mid-Ankle Support Hiking Boot! A compact Plasti-foil Emergency blanket! Stay on well defined trails. And if you are hiking in the winter....Never Eat Yellow Snow! Oh...and you could carry a Cell Phone-leave it off,except in an emergency-to conserve the battery! Also a First Aid Kit...would probably be a good idea! Get books on Woods Craftmanship...with info and ideas on Leanto shelters,general crafts,and many useful tips! Much like the kind you would find in a Boy Scout Manual. Watch segments of the Red Green Show,and learn how to improvise....and remember "If you can't be Handsome-at least be Handy." |
