The world has always been an unsafe and uncertain place to live. People in the past did not lead safer lives than today. They had wars, earthquakes, disease, aging and death just like we do today.

A big difference is they didn't have mass media trying to scare them everyday with possible ways we might be hurt. It seems like if the evening news doesn't have a scary story about how unsafe our world is, then its not doing its job. Ignore all these dire warnings and you will find yourself not worrying about things you have no control over.

It also helps to put things into perspective. What are the odds that all these bad things are going to happen to you?
