A question about car sickness.....? |
Travel Info My daughter is ten and gets very carsick and we often give her Dremamine before long trips. However, we would like to take a cruise this summer, and I am wondering how it will effect her, or is this different? Anyone know if carsick people will get sick on a ship? Or what could we give her? Thanks! Travel Tips I had the same problem at that age. I was miserable. My dad fixed a bench type booster seat so I could see out (hey, it was back before the current seat belt requirements), and enabled me to look forward, which helped. I am now a paramedic, and we get a lot of rookies that get motion sickness in the back. They can't take anything that will make them sleepy, so a lot now chew on a sliver of ginger root. They say this really helps, much like the old ginger ale for an upset tummy my mom gave me when I was a kid. Others will nibble on something salty, but not greasy (like baked potato chips or saltine crackers). This may help in your car, but for a cruise I'd check with her pediatrician. He may be able to give you something to try in advance on a long Sunday drive, like maybe the tiny patches behind the ear. That way you can make sure she won't be really sleepy the entire time. Check and see - it would be a shame for her not to be able to enjoy this experience. Others well my cousin has the same problem all the time... and the best way for him not to get car sick he just sits on the front not in the back... and he only looks foward not on the sides because it makes him sorta dizzy and then... u know what happens. see your doctor ..some new drugs coming out for this just have stops it worked for me dont let her eat while moving drink before |
