How safe is it to travel to egypt whilst pregnant? |
Travel Info I have found out I am pregnant and have a holiday to the Red Sea booked, I will be about 6 months when I travel. The vaccinations aren't an issue as I was in Kenya just a couple of months ago and am still covered from that but I'm not sure what the healthcare is like in Egypt if I need it or whether I will be OK in this kind of heat? Travel Tips First of all you need to phone your travel insurance company and tell them that you are pregnant and make sure they will cover any costs that you may incur if you do need to go to hospital. There are always private hospitals so if you do need one find out exactly where your nearest one is as soon as you get there. It's going to be really really hot, presuming you are going in the summer so be prepared!! Be careful about what you eat out, make sure any fruit you eat is washed first, only drink bottled water even if the drinking water is ok. It's easy to get food poisoning out there and that is the last thing you want!! Have a lovely hol!!! Others I would not go there if you are white, Muslim fundamentalists hunt white people down over there i'm pretty sure there are pregnant people in Egypt too?! i think there isn't no problem i wouldn't go even if i was not pregnant, no after the 12th week it's ok, i think. |
