I afraid of flying actually taking off. Can I get some Valium prescription to come me down.?

Travel Info
I get very sick. Motion sickness on planes with it takes off. My stomach just get so sour. It hard to explain but it make me feel bad. I got the sickness patch before it doesn't work very well for me. I was told by a dentist that they can prescribe valium to calm fear full patients. Do you think they can do that for me at kasier hospital. I scare of dentist tooo. I think that may help with my sour stomach and feeling with flying.

Travel Tips
Taking off and landing are indeed scary times. I've flown my whole life as my father is a retired employee of American Airline, and I still get a bit queasy.

While Valium, Ativan, etc can calm you down, that's an extreme and possibly habit forming way to handle your fear. Try this instead:

1. Realize and accept that air travel is still THE safest form of all travel.

2. We hear about crashes in a more media-frenzy way, because it is a large loss of life at one time. Few people realize that nation wide, we lose triple that amount of people on Memorial Day weekend, in driving fatalities.

3. Try Yoga! Deep breathing and calming exercises work wonders.

4. Motion sickness? Try over-the-counter Dramamine. It cures the sickness and will also makes you a bit drowsy and calmer feeling

5. Try crystallized ginger for nausea. Works wonders.

6. Fly with someone who is calm and unafraid next to you if possible. It does help to hold Mom, Dad's or an S.O's hand.

Good luck and don't let a fear of the friendly skies " ground " you! ;) Source(s): Myself
Other Travel Tips
If you have a regular doctor, call him. If you have not seen a doctor in a while they may hesitate to give you a prescription for Valium. They may view your behavior as drug seeking.
I have friends who've gotten their docs to give them valium before a flight. See your doc before your flight (good luck getting an appointment) and explain the situation to them and they should write you a prescription. If for some reason you can't get an appt or get the prescription you could try taking an over the counter sleeping pill and try that. Good luck!
