What health precautions should i take when travelling overseas? |
Travel Info What health precautions should i take when travelling overseas? Travel Tips Where are you travelling to? Your travel agent should know what immunisations you need or contact the consulate/embassy of the country(s) you're visiting. Bottled water is a good suggestion, but if visiting a country like NZ you won't need to. Tap water is safe. Make sure your passport has enough 'time' and you don't get caught out with your passport expiring. In your cabin bag, pack an extra days clothing just incase your luggage gets lost. Then at least you have one set to wear and one set to get laundered. Never pack anything important in your luggage - always carry that on you. Remember the restrictions about liquids etc on planes too. Oops almost forgot - if you take medication make sure you have enough to cover your time away. Check with your Doctor if you need a letter to show immigration/customs when you arrive. Others get all your immunizations/vaccinations and only drink bottled water. Traveling overseas is much safer and easier today than it was say 30 years ago. The threat of contagious and infectious diseases has been drastically reduced. While many countries do not require any immunizations you would be best served to contact your personal physician. He is familiar with you and your health background and can advise what if any precautions need to be observed. That said, HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!! |
