Irish men used to get screened, or taken to one side for further questioning and this was acceptable and understood (If the country you were traveling in was constantly getting blown to bit by a certain type of person and you fitted that description a slight delay was expected). Since the Irish situation has calmed down and British cities are no longer bomb targets by the IRA the screening of Irish males has stopped. Asians (middle eastern descent) do not have this same treatment as this is considered wrong and racist. I personally disagree and feel that this political correctness is wrong, if 90% of the terrorist threat is from people of a certain description then that person should expect to be treated with more suspicion. 30 minutes worth of racial profile screening could have stopped 9/11. Others becuase they are scared of rasist comments...lets face it anyone can be a terrorist..but I think its fair game to profile based on gut feeling.. because technically there isn't an exact profile they can go buy, psychologically there is. but all the really have to go by is how they act and look. and since most people in America think that Arab people are terrorists they would end up racially profiling people. and thats not fair, or nice. most people working there would be stopping every Arab Muslim person, and that causes problems Who do you think fits the profile, remember the most experienced terrorists are irish. well tell me what a terrorist looks like....terrorists could be men, women, children, elderly...any race/color....just take Oklahoma city bombing and the uni bomber, weren't those terrorist acts? a terrorist act is simply an act of destruction to cause mass fear. there are home grown terrorists such as john walker a white American who was fighting with the taliban in Afghanistan. Also richard reid, who although would fit "your" idea of terrorist, was raised in london. you my friend are just another asshole...and that's why we check people like you...so stop complaining, we're protecting you and other americans from another terrorist act Who are these, I pray. |
