The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clockface maintained since 1947 by the Board of Directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. It uses the analogy of the human race being at a time that is "minutes to midnight" where midnight represents destruction by nuclear war. Since its introduction, the clock has appeared on the cover of each issue of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. The first representation of the clock was produced in 1947, when artist Martyl Langsdorf, the wife of physicist, Alexander Langsdorf, Jr., who worked on the Manhattan Project, was asked by magazine cofounder Hyman Goldsmith to design a cover for the June issue.

The number of minutes before midnight, a measure of the degree of nuclear, environmental, and technological threats, is updated periodically. The clock is currently set to five minutes to midnight, having been advanced by two minutes on January 17, 2007.
When the Berlin wall fell we saw the end of the communist threat to world peace. Unfortunately their place has now been taken by Islam- the nutters amongst them (who are still living in the 5th century) want an Islamic world at all costs.
I hope soon that we find a suitable alternative to oil so that we can say 'stuff you- we don't need you anymore' and then pull out all interest in that part of the world. It will not happen in my liftime but hopefully in the next 50 years
i would like to that too ,there are many dangers in this world unfortunately with climate change ever been put before us , wars ,etc man will destroy himself eventually which unfortunately is very sad . in answer to your question the world is not that safe to be in or to live on.silver fox.

all of a sudden...this world there are many sick people who will do sick things and its scaryy...dont kno the point of life
