Travel Info Is Sri Lanka a safe place to go on Holiday for two weeks , as i have heard some parts are dangerous? Travel Tips I live in Colombo. Its true that we have an ongoing war. But it is mostly the north and north east parts of the country that is mainly affected by the war. Colombo, the capital as well as most other parts are quite safe to visit and travel. Yes a good travel package would be a great idea. If you're visiting alone, or with a friend, There's much to do in Colombo alone. The night life is cool and the hotels rates are quite affordable these days. Out of Colombo, I would recommend: # Down south - the vast coastal area, towards south of Colombo. # Kandy - which is the mountain area, in the middle of the island, with the famous Temple of the tooth relic. # Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya - The famous cities a little north of Kandy, where many ancient palaces, temples can be found. The famous Sigiriya frescoes drawings are amazing! Hope you have a fabulous time!! ;D Others The country is effectively in civil war, so I wouldn't go there myself. South West India is really nice and comparable to Sri Lanka scenery and climate wise. It's also much safer. Check it out!
